Ready to make an enquiry about Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Services for yourself or a family member, or refer a patient or Client? Guide Dogs supports people with low vision or blindness whose vision is impacted either by eye health, brain function or both. We focus on the functional impact of vision changes and address each person’s needs individually.
Whether you’re legally blind, have low vision or are experiencing permanent changes in eyesight, we welcome service enquiries and referrals from:
- Individuals aged 18 years or older with low vision or blindness who are enquiring about Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Services for themselves.
- Parents or legal guardians enquiring about services for their child (from birth to 18 years).
- Family members, loved ones or carers enquiring on behalf of a person with low vision or blindness.
- Healthcare professionals and service providers referring Clients to our services, including:
- Health professionals: We work collaboratively with you to support people with low vision or blindness in achieving their everyday functional goals. Our services help people access printed information more easily, move around their community with confidence, complete daily tasks more independently, and connect with others who have low vision or blindness.
- Aged care service providers: We work with you to address your resident or Client’s individual functional needs. Our services help people build confidence at home or in residential settings, maintain and maximise their independence, and regain greater choice in their everyday routines.
- Education professionals: We value the collaborative partnership we create with you and your students who have low vision or blindness, both in and outside the classroom. We use a coaching approach in the early years, shifting goal ownership toward adulthood as students grow. At all ages, our services integrate technology to support each student’s needs.
- Disability and Community Services providers: We welcome referrals from professionals supporting people with disabilities and those working in community services. We offer individualised services that address everyday functional needs, including unmet needs in managing daily tasks, and integrate technology across all services.
To make an enquiry for yourself or someone with low vision or blindness, or to refer a patient or Client, A member of the Guide Dogs Team will be in touch shortly.
